Glass Pool Fencing and Balustrading
Fencebuild carry the superior range of Downee frameless and semi-frameless glass pool and balustrading. The Downee range offers stainless steel fasteners, spigots and clamps to create 'invisible' frameless glass balustrades and frameless pool fences.
A clear and elegant Semi Frameless Glass Fence System is now available from Downee, producing visually appealing and unobstructed views of surrounding landscape and pool areas.
Stylish round aluminium posts support pre cut 8mm toughened glass panels, incorporating a pre-drilled matching glass gate if required. Overall fence height is 1260mm, incorporating 1200mm high glass panels. Posts can be powder coated in any colour to match surrounding decor.
The glass fence system is ideal for residential homes, apartments and commercial properties, wherever there is a need to enhance the surrounds and add value to the property.
Posts are supplied in 50mm diameter, round aluminium extrusions, and are available in the following lengths:
- 1260mm Flange Mount (Bolt down application)
- 1500mm long or 1800mm long (Core drilled application)
Post types are available in the in a range of configurations to accommodate straight runs, 90 degree corners, 135 degree angles and half post configurations for wall fixing applications.
Toughened 8mm pre-cut glass panels are available in a range of sizes from 816mm wide through to 1416mm wide in 100mm increments. All panels including gate are 1200mm high.
The Downee Glass Pool Fence System complies with the following Australian Standards:
- AS2820-1993 - Gate units for Private Swimming Pools
- AS1926.1-2007 - Swimming Pool Safety - Safety Barriers for Swimming Pools

Compliance to the above Australian Standards are subject to a fully compliant installation (including the use of suitable fasteners)

Aluminium Balustrade System
A range of aluminium architectural glass balustrading inclusive of the fixing systems, accessories and Australian Standards compliant toughened glass panels has been launched by the Downee.
The balustrading range is ideal for domestic, multi level or apartment type projects where there is a need for a modular system without the requirement for prefabrication to predetermined measurements.
For high rise projects the balustrading, accessories and glass panels can be flat packed and crane lifted or transported by lift to the desired level ready for installation.
The balustrading range comes in an extensive choice of fitments including single flanged posts for surface fixing, double flanged posts which are a twin post sharing the same flange, or in-ground posts with an extended base leg for core drill application, another option is side mounted flange posts which can be fixed to stringers or face fixed.
Optional accessories suited to individual site applications include joiners, end caps and 90 degree rail bends, so that a complete installation can be ordered in advance ahead of installation requirements.
The glass option is visually appealing 8mm thickness toughened glass in a range of standard panel sizes which are all 910mm in height but available in a range of panel lengths from 500 to 1200 mm in 100mm increments.
The Downee aluminium balustrading range provides a complete package to give an almost seamless outlook together with the strength required for installations without the need for prefabrication or predetermined measurements.Our architectually designed Aluminium Balustrade System provides a transparent balustrade for uninterrupted views, with the safety of compliance with Australian Standards.
Supplied in modules, including the glass, it is a lightweight and inexpensive alternative to custom stainless steel frameless balustrades.
The balustrade system does not require prefabrication to predetermined measurements. It can be delivered flat packed, ready for crane or lift transport to the installation point. This delivery method makes installation easy and minimises in-transit damage.
Note that the Aluminium Balustrade System is not suitable as a swimming pool fence.
